The publication

Aprosoja Brasil commissioned Popoff to produce the complete English version of Plantando Histórias, Colhendo Conquistas — Planting Stories, Harvesting Achievements. The bilingual hardcover publication documents the organization’s institutional history and aspects of soybean production in Brazil.

The approximately 40,000-word assignment covered the complete publication, including the main text, captions, timelines, tables, quotations, image descriptions and introductory material.

The translation challenge

The book combines technical agricultural content with institutional history. Its chapters move between journalistic reporting, historical narrative and personal or anecdotal accounts from people connected to the sector.

The English version therefore needed to preserve distinct voices while remaining clear to readers outside Brazil. Agronomic terminology and references specific to Brazilian institutions also required careful explanation or adaptation for an international audience.

Terminology and quality control

Popoff created a dedicated glossary and researched terminology through official Brazilian and English-language agricultural sources, including government ministries and sector associations. Equivalent usage was compared before terms were incorporated into the translation.

The complete English version was handled internally by Popoff, including translation, revision, terminology management and consistency checks. Editorial selection and graphic design remained with the publication team.

Outcome

The complete translation was delivered within the agreed deadline and published substantially as submitted. The bilingual edition enables Aprosoja Brasil to present its history and the development of Brazilian soybean production to international institutions and agricultural partners in Portuguese and English.

The printed credits identify the work directly as “English Version — Ravi Popoff · Popoff Tradução & Interpretação.”
