FAQ

Interpretation

Formats, teams, and onsite, remote and hybrid delivery.

How do I choose between simultaneous and consecutive interpretation?

Simultaneous interpretation keeps the event moving and is generally the best fit for conferences, panels, training sessions and meetings with larger audiences. In consecutive interpretation, speakers pause after short segments; it works well for smaller meetings, interviews, negotiations and brief presentations. The right format also depends on timing, acoustics, audience size and meeting dynamics.

When are two interpreters normally required?

For sustained simultaneous interpretation, including most assignments lasting more than 90 minutes, a two-interpreter team is normally required. The interpreters alternate to maintain accuracy and concentration. Final team size depends on the schedule, breaks, subject complexity and language directions.

Does Popoff provide in-person, remote and hybrid interpretation?

Yes. Interpretation can be organized onsite, through online meeting platforms or in a hybrid format. For remote and hybrid assignments, we assess audio channels, interpreter access, technical tests and how each participant will receive the required language before the event.

Which languages and combinations are available?

Our core working languages are Portuguese, English, Spanish and French. Additional language combinations can be assessed and organized on request according to the format, subject matter and location of the assignment.

What materials should be shared before an interpretation assignment?

An agenda, presentations, speaker or participant lists, background papers, glossaries, acronyms and relevant links help us prepare terminology and context. The more technical or institutional the meeting, the more important it is to receive these materials in advance.

FAQ

Equipment and technical support

Solutions that provide clear audio for interpreters and participants.

What interpretation equipment does an event need?

The setup depends on the venue, audience size, languages and event format. It may include microphones, a clean audio feed for the interpreters, booths, consoles, transmitters, receivers, headsets and remote language channels. Technical visits and smaller groups may use portable systems.

FAQ

Where we work and the information needed to define the service.

Where does Popoff work?

Popoff is based in Brasília and supports assignments across the Federal District, elsewhere in Brazil and internationally. Remote services can also be provided regardless of where participants are located.

What information is needed for an accurate quotation?

For interpretation and equipment, provide the date, city or platform, timetable, languages and directions, meeting format, participant and listener numbers, programme and existing audiovisual setup. For translation, send the file or a sample, languages, deadline, intended use, delivery format and any certification requirement.

FAQ

Translation and confidentiality

Sworn or certified translations and the handling of sensitive material.

How are sworn or certified translations handled?

Requirements vary according to the document, receiving authority and country of use. We confirm the intended purpose and applicable requirements before coordinating the appropriate sworn or certified solution.

How are confidential documents and information handled?

Materials supplied for quotation, preparation or translation are used only to assess and deliver the assignment. Sensitive documents can be handled under a confidentiality agreement when required.
